Periyar National Park is Famous For Asian Elephants

Periyar National Park is a major wildlife sanctuary located in the state of Kerala to visit and see. The main attraction here is the Asian elephant, Thekkady, Idukki district was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1950. This national park is the natural habitat of the Asian elephant. A large number of elephants can be seen here in herds when they come to drink water on the banks of the lake.
In Periyar National Park, you can see tigers, sambar, gaur, wild boar, Malabar giant squirrel, Nilgiri langur and more than 260 bird species like great hornbill and kingfisher.
In Boat Safari in Periyar Park, you can see elephants while traveling by boat in the lake. You can interact with local tribes to know about wildlife. While doing nature walk and trekking, you get information about herbs, rare plants and wildlife on the way. Trained guides and former hunter trekkers give you a real experience of the forest.
